Small Gestures
In the Spring of 2009, Hall began a new daily practice to remind herself to be attentive, awake, and mindful as she begins each day. Simple, humble and ephemeral – these performative gestures are enacted wherever the artist finds herself – whether home or on the road, and serve as her grounding in place – an acknowledgement of embeddedness, connection, and gratitude. Each gesture is photographed and shared daily with friends on Facebook. They have evolved over the years into a series of gentle interventions which serve as small “presents” of “presence”.
